Baguette

Time to prepare : 20min
Break time : 1h30/2h
Time of baking : 35min
Ingredients :
-
500g flour for bread
-
300ml warm water
-
10g salt
-
7g baking powder for bread
-
Some seeds or nuts for special bread (option)
Preparation :
-
Mix together the flour, salt and baking powder. Make a whole in the middle and pour 150ml of warm water. Mix quickly with a spatula and then add the remain of water. If the dough is to sticky add softly some flour until the dough has got the good consistency.
-
Make a ball and pour some flour on top. Leave it at least for 1h30min topped with a wet towel in a warm room.
-
Preheat your oven - Thermostat 240.
-
Cut the dough in 4 equal parts, give them quickly a ball shape and left them for 20min again.
-
Make the baguettes shapes quickly to not squeeze the dough. Left them for a while and brush them with some salted water.
-
Put your baguettes in the oven and pour quickly 2 glasses of cold water on the pan on the back of your oven and close quickly the door of the oven. Put down the thermostat à 220.
7. Bake for 35min. This is based on my oven which is with gas and heat on the back only. I put the bread in the middle.
To know if your bread is already bake, knock on it, the sound must be ' ring hollow'.
